Angel of War, Patricia Healey, was a member of Hornsby RSL sub branch, a past president of its Women's Auxiliary and an ambulance driver for the Royal British Army during World War II. Her husband was in the Royal Navy. Patricia was quoted as saying "some soldiers were badly injured but it was good to be able to help them".
Returned servicemen from East Timor were among those who marched in Hornsby on Anzac Day as did representatives from the community groups such as the district Scouts.
Hundreds gathered along the Pacific Highway to watch the march followed by a ceremony at the cenotaph. The service started with a prologue by the Hornsby RSL president, Rod White, who acknowledged the sacrifices made by Australian men and women in battle.
The Reverend Barry Bevis from St Peter's Anglican Church in Hornsby said in his address that many children today did not even know where Gallipoli was. He said the church had two windows which depicted World War II.
After the traditional laying of wreaths, rendition of The Last Post and one minute's silence, the veterans and their guests retired to the War Memorial Hall for refreshments.Date takenApril 25 2000LocationHornsbyGeotag[1] KeywordsAnzac DayHornsby RSLHornsby War Memorial HallHornsby War Memorial
