StreetBurdett StreetSuburbHornsbyDetailsBurdett Street was named after Robert Burdett-Smith, born 1837, a Sydney solicitor. With Burns and Withers he formed the firm which acquired the land known as the Bellamy grants, later owned by Thomas Hyndes, and part of the Terry Hughes grant. Roads were built on these lands under an unemployment relief scheme in the 1890s depression. The streets were planned to give access to crown lands on the east of the railway line.SourcePioneers of Hornsby Shire, 1788-1906, p.220Map[1] LinkSmith, Robert Burdett (1837-1895)
