It was constructed using unemployed labour, in the depression of the 1890s. The land belonged to Burns, Withers and Smith, (R. B. Smith & Co) which received 1430 pounds when the land was resumed for rail purposes in 1883. The streets were planned to give access to crown land on the east side of the railway line.SourceHornsby Shire Historical Society, 1979 'Pioneers of Hornsby Shire 1788-1906': Library of Australian History, Sydney, p.199Map[1]
