SuburbHornsbyTypeOtherDetailsTwice in its 100 year history, the Church of St. Peter's, Hornsby has been destroyed by fire. The first service was held in 1896, but the church was not built until 1898, when the foundation stone was laid. January 25, 1913 the church was burnt down, but the present church was not rebuilt until 1923, ten years later. The rebuilt larger church was dedicated on July 17, 1924, as the War Memorial Church, but in November, 1957 a fire again came up from the valley behind, burning the church down again. This time the church and hall were repaired without delay. CreatorHornsby and Upper North Shore Advocate, 23/4/1998, p.2.
