BiographyHe was originally reported wounded. His mother was informed by Base Records on 15 November 1915 that he had been evacuated to Egypt, though his hospital was not known, and was making “satisfactory progress”. On 8 January 1916, he was declared missing and wounded, and then pronounced killed in action by a court of enquiry on 24 March 1916. His remains were not found until 1923. There was an eyewitness report that he was killed in shelling and carried off wounded, but this may not be reliable as other reports suggested he had been captured. Last edited by: Neil Chippendale
