BiographyAlwyn Black died of wounds to his back after being hit by an enemy shell fire while returning to the Australian trench lines after working with a fatigue/working party near Morlancourt.
His last words were said to be "Hooray, I'm done'. "Alwyn was a soldier of the first order", according to the men in his unit.
