BiographyFrancis Edleston enlisted on 19 January 1916 and was killed in action by an exploding shell while repairing telephone lines.
He was previously wounded in July and October 1917 and it was also placed on records that he was "conspicuous for his gallantry and bravery" in June 1917.
His brother stated "He had been three times wounded previously. Being single he volunteered for dangerous work."
